Why do you need automatic hub site association?
Automatic Hub Site Association offers numerous benefits. By streamlining site creation, you significantly reduce IT's manual work saving valuable time. It also improves SharePoint organization by ensuring a consistent navigation, branding, and information architecture across related sites.
This consistency enhances the user experience and improves overall site usability. Sites become more easily discoverable, and navigating to other sites is easier, as users drill down the hub. Finally, by enforcing consistent site associations, this feature helps ensure compliance with the organization's standards and best practices.
Setting up automatic hub site association
For admins
Admins have full control over Hub Site association when using BindTuning to control the user self-service experience. Admins can determine how new sites will be associated during creation:
- No hub association: New sites will not be associated to a hub.
- Pre-defined ub site: Admin defines a specific hub site to automatically associate new sites with.
- User selected hub site (must select): Require end-users to select a Hub Site during provisioning.
- Optional association by the user: Allow end-users to choose whether or not to associate with a hub.
For end-users
The end-user experience when requesting a site will vary depending on the admin's configuration. When given the option, end-users will be able to select the hub site themselves, otherwise, the hub site association will occur seamleslly. This ensures that end-users have the appropriate level of control and flexibility when creating new sites, while being consistent with governance defined by admins.
